On June 24th, 2024, the Alpha-1 Europe Alliance played a vital role at the European Commission’s event in Brussels, focusing on the Comprehensive EU Framework for Safety and Quality of Substances of Human Origin (SoHO). This new regulation aims to enhance the safety of both donors and patients, while ensuring sufficient plasma supply within Europe.
Fernanda Aspilche Ferro and Veronica Lopez Gousset, in representation of the Alliance, joined stakeholders to discuss critical aspects of the regulation, including donor safety, innovative approaches to SoHO, and strategies to achieve European plasma self-sufficiency.
“In Alpha-1 Europe Alliance, we strive for plasma self-sufficiency and reduced dependency on US imports. Together with our national patient group members, we will continue to advocate and work with all stakeholders to ensure this critical objective.”
